Senior Estimator (Steel Industry) - NY

With a 100+ year history, our NY client, is searching for a Senior Estimator (with opportunity to grow to a Chief Estimator).

Core Responsibilities:

• Initial review of RFP and setup of bids.

• Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, and specifications.

• Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.

• Prepare estimate by assembling/displaying numerical/descriptive information.

• Resolve discrepancies by collecting/analyzing information.

• Review of RFIs, addendums, and bulletins as provided by customers.

• Site walkthroughs for new bids and change orders. 

• Review of new drawings/new documents for active jobs to ascertain changes and evaluation of change orders. 

• Review of scope sheets and participation in bid interviews. Finalize project costs and review of bid riders. Ultimately leading to either closing the work and negotiating with customers or preparation of best and final bid submissions.

• Post bid responsibilities include organization of all documents for turnover to project manager (preparation of SOW scope of work document and preparation of PDF markup for drafting department). Preparation of financial breakdown SOV (schedule of values) document for turnover of new projects to accounts receivable department. Subsequent revisions to SOW and documents for drafting expected based upon changes to project. Revisions to SOV document may be needed if required by GC/CM.

• Maintain owner, Architect, Engineer, GC, and vendor relations.

• Development/maintenance of new/existing vendor relations.

Our clients ideal candidate has ample experience working within  the structural steel industry. They prefer a candidate who is proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook as well as  digital PDF skills (Acrobat or blue beam).
